The Blue Boys (Hayes and Prater) – “Easy Winner” mp3

In February of 1928, guitarist Napoleon “Nap” Hayes and mandolinist Matthew Prater, two black musicians from Vicksburg, MS, recorded four instrumental tunes in a dusty Memphis studio. Hayes’ guitar providing a steady rhythm and Prater’s precise mandolin lead reveal a unique and carefully stylized repertoire. Fusing elements of: string band, ragtime, and blues. Enjoy!
