R.Y.E.’s “So Oh No Now” Is Oh So Now, No?

Toronto songwriter Ryan Yoker loves him some Brit-pop and it shows all over this track. Crackling brilliant production matches the quality of the song, which any Oasis or Stone Roses fan will instantly fall for. “So Oh No Now” is my post for today, fellow music-hedz, proving yet again that my blog is better than commercial radio by ten bazillion country miles. This should go in mp34u.fm on the elusive and coveted “Pop” playlist. Out on the splendidly named Mint 400 Records. This one is gr8, kidz, sleepeth not pon it.

Bombs Get High In Windsor

Truly one of the coolest choruses I’ve heard in a while. “Do you want to get high?”  A fork in the road of many a kid’s school day. Kick it with friends, or sit in algebra class and learn about formulas. Hmm. This is what happens BEFORE the events of Oasis’ “Champagne Supernova” =) Toronto’s Bombs sound more Britpop than Brits on this classic power pop call to party.

Fairmont – “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished”

No good deed goes unpunished. As bleak an assessment as that may be, it does at least provide the title for this outstanding track by Fairmont. They squeeze wonderful hooks out of odd tiddly bits of folk wisdom, and the music is top shelf indie rock. Excellent.

If No Good Deed Goes Unpunished it should at least sound this good

The Bombs “Empty Noise” fills the air

Bombs – “Empty Noise”

A nice big psychedelic musical conflagration from some moddy boys called Bombs from Toronto, Canada. Kinda like Oasis meets the Godfathers! A cool rocker from their eponymous EP, with some gr8 wah-wah guitar work and a yearning, echo drenched vocal. I like it.
