Bassnectar continues killing it.

I never felt that Bassnectar’s live shows ever eclipsed his recorded material, until I heard his latest, “Wildstyle.” If you’ve never been to a Bassnectar show it usually goes down like “Wildstyle Method (Radio Edit),” the bass rolls and shudders over your body making the experience of listening (or being at his show) the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Jinx in Dub

The bass music culture in the UK has given new life to the archetype of the entire bass music umbrella – Jamaican dub. Bristol producer Jinx In Dub has taken a cue from the pushers of future bass, and faultlessly juxtaposed his dubby rhythms with Rider Shafique’s Jamaican-accented vocals. “Meditate & Relate” will prove to be a smoker’s delight, while fans of dubstep will give it “2 lighters in the air.” And after you listen to “Meditate & Relate,” do yourself a favor and don’t fight any compulsion to pull out your 70s Jamaican dub albums.

Kraddy – “Freakshow” (mp3)

Kraddy- “Freakshow” (play/download)

For the past 10 years, Kraddy has cast an ever-growing shadow on the West Coast electronic scene. Former member of The Glitch Mob (and some would argue the reason we all have bought tickets to Glitch Mob shows), Kraddy’s sonic resum√© has blown-up since his departure from The Mob. “Freakshow” is an appropriately titled tune. Kraddy is not only exploring sounds that breed away from the dance floor, he is also dredging the bottom of his imagination, coming up with an aggressive-metallic sound.

Dubstep Bliss – Infected By Bass Bacteria!

BetaSP – “Bacteria” mp3

‘Lectronibots, baby. Lil’ multiplying microscopic nanopuppies of underground bass music bliss. BetaSP‘s work is aggressive and urgent, like the dance music of the late 80s and early 90s when it was still a mostly underground phenomenon – unsafe for mainstream use, a playground for the adventurous and bold. Get a little o’ this bacteria on yr tongues, kittins. From Trenchant Dubs’ l8est brilliant dubstep comp, here is “Bacteria” remixed by Chrissy Murderbot. It’s a party.

VibeSquaD – “Blaze Them Treez” (play/download)

No other DJ in the world looks like they are having more fun then VibeSquaD as they are playing. And no other DJ in the world shakes the crowd with bigger bass and chunkier beats then VibeSquaD. Throw away your I-Pod dock or those white ear buds that came with your I-Pod. Vibe’s low-end out put can’t be appreciated on such feeble technology.

Future bass

I.D. & Baobinga – “Back Foot” (play)

The bass music scene in the UK is an ever changing entity that resonates throughout global dance music culture. From the early days of hardcore, and the eventual split to drum n’ bass. To grime and the evolving dubstep movement, the only thing constant is those UK bass heads are always leading the charge. One of the newest bass artists changing the bass music landscape are I.D. & Baobinga. Blackfoot is from their latest release, Bass Music Sessions, and shows that dubstep is for grown-ups too.
