Say “Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi” Ten Times Fast

My my, I learn something every day on the Intertubes. This morning over coffee I learned that Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi was a major composer in India, responsible for over 400 devotional songs. I learned that his songs were informed as much by science and philosophy as by spirituality, and that they are loved by millions. I also learned that Carnatic music is a distinct form of Indian Classical music, which features the voice as a primary instrument. I humbly face this as the tip of an iceberg – another gr8 form of music I have yet to explore. The Amutham Music label kindly shares this beautiful track from a compilation of songs written by the aforementioned, and performed by various Indian artists. And life is good.
