Ramblin’ Thomas truly was a ramblin’ man. Originally from Louisiana, he played all over and recorded in Dallas, Texas, and Chicago. He was a drifter, who also happened to be a very talented slide guitar player. His technique is noted in this 1928 recording of “Sawmill Moan.” The song is aptly named as his lengthy cries evoke a slow moan of a sawmill. Enjoy.
