There’s a new Fishbone album coming out on October 11. For those of you who understand the significance of that, let me repeat, there’s a new Fishbone album coming out on October 11. For those of you who do not understand the significance of that, let me repeat, there’s a new Fishbone album coming out on October 11. Here’s a pre-release single, “Crazy Glue” that sticks to you like crazy glue. It’s classic Fishbone. Musically brilliant, lyrically fearless, beautiful, absurd, a little frightening, quite fun, and barking mad.

Nuther one from the old mp34u vaults. Restiform Bodies are a trip and a half running rampant in an old school game show set. You know the one, where a studio tanned blonde with ten miles of white teeth snakes her arms toward one of three stages as the announcer bellows, “a new car!” and the APPLAUSE light elicits cheers and oohs and aahs. Them were good innocent days, where cars and napalm was made in America and “tea party” meant a gathering of nice ladies with poodles. “Bobby Trendy Addendum,” ladies and gents. This are some fuktup sh!t.

A friend recently posted Wesley Willis’ “Rock And Roll Macdonalds” on FB, and I was thrown into one of my occasional Wesley Willis Total Joyride Spasms. All of his songs are great, and this is one of my faves.

Enter the seethingly sexy and calamitously cool dreamworld of Gram Rabbit. They are great in every little way, and she wears bunny ears well. A friend turned me on to this band a coupla years ago, and this just came up in random play on the old iThingy, inspiring this fawning post. Fawn. Post.

Another gem from She Mob. I’m having a She Mob kind of week. Here we find them channeling a Prozac experience. This is so edgy and dark and scary. Yet strangely comforting, and peaceful, like, you’re holding a bloody axe and don’t remember anything. The accompanying video by Captive Wild Woman is equally inspired and deranged. I’m going to my happy place.

‘Tis the year of the BUNNY and I have found the perfect song to set the fluffy tailed new era bounding and breeding into the fertile green meadows of the future. I present to you bouncing mammals, Comfy Chair, performing their original Opus De Leporidae, “The Wabbit.” Comfy Chair’s fine CD entertainment products may be purchased here. Gung Hay Fat Choy! Eat some lettuce and hop around.

Shrieking hysteria reminiscent of Gang Of Four and other post-modern collapse vendors grates like quadruple espresso on guitar slabs falling like crushed cars on miles of identical drab apartment blocks.

“STD” has made a lot of brilliant tracks as a solo artist since fleeing from band life in disgust. I first discovered him when a friend (also in a band, naturally) sent me a link to “Your Band” and commented that she had heard every line in the song uttered in earnest at some point, by band guys at the bar at Bottom Of The Hill (the SF club mentioned in the song, no less). Band shmoozing is a frightful business, and I guess it just ate away at our hero Schaffer until he plopped out this hilarious anti-shmooze screed. Not safe for work, this one. No. Not safe in general. But excellent. I added an “Other” category to my blog categories, just for the great otherness of this. Enjoy.
