How was your weekend? Did you go out on DUI Friday? It’s Sunday, are you putting it all back together again? Well most of us have been there. Here’s an epic track from Fishbone, off their brand new record, all about the potential benefits of not finding your keys. Din turned me onto this – he’s got the title track “Crazy Glue” up at his blog. Some 30 years into an unbroken stream of tours, albums, triumphs and struggles, the ‘bone has created another gr8 record. It comes out officially on Oct. 11. I’ll drink to that.

This track from The Uptones‘ new CD is dub sunshine in a bottle. Huge molten brass slathered over a miles-wide bass and drum beat mixes it up with skankin’ guitars and shimmering organ bubbles. An instrumental reggae lovefest, “Solar Disco Ball” just became the soundtrack to to my east bay spring day.

Hailing from a planet near Oakland, CA whose name you can’t pronounce, The Phenomenauts have been practicing their space-o-billy stage wizardry for over a decade in earth years. For them it is but an eye blink, and here we find the ‘nauts in a do-wopppish state of robot reverie, dreaming of electric sheep. This is a band that set up uninvited outside the Warped Tour one summer, played with a generator next to their van, which itself looks like a comic space ship, won fans over and were eventually added to the tour lineup. That’s badass. Robots or not, these guys have tons of heart. And this song is gr8.
