El Ciego Melquiades – “Maria Christina” (mp3)

¬†”El Ciego Melquiades (‚ÄúThe Blind Fiddler‚Äù),” Melquiades Rodriguez glides through this lively Mazurka, a Tejano version of the Polish waltz. In the 1930s, Melquiades resided in San Antonio Texas, thus was greatly influenced by the neighboring musicians of Mexico, as well as the popular Polish waltzes of the time. Maria Christina highlights Melquiades true love for the fiddle, and his desire to blend cultures within his music.
