Freddie Spruell – “Milk Cow Blues” (mp3)
Freddie Spruell was born in Louisiana but grew up in Chicago during a time when many black musicians where migrating to the Chicago area. Spruell recorded “Milk Cow Blues” in 1926 for the Okeh Records label, becoming one of the first self-accompanied blues men to be recorded. Take a listen, his style undoubtedly was appropriated from the delta region. Enjoy this rare recording!
