Although Joe McCoy was known as one of the greatest sidemen in blues history, playing next to his brother Charlie and wife Minnie, he also had a successful recording career of his own, laying down sides that are now considered classics. I’m proud to present one of his standout songs “Evil Devil Woman Blues,” where Joe shows he’s one of the first openly feminist musicians in history.
