Sam Butler is one of those forgotten geniuses who’s itinerant life style wasn’t necessarily a choice but a necessity. A whole generation of black musicians battling against racism and lack of opportunity found solace in the blues. The only thing left behind are sonic epitaphs like “Poor Boy Blues,” recorded on September 30, 1926 in New York City.
