Paying homage to 80′s funk as much as 70′s disco, Sugar & Gold‘s “WorkOut Vinyl 12″ is some all grow’d up party music, children. State of the art production values and a sexy cool lyric, make this music solidly contemporary and eliminate “retro” from my genre tags. Sporting shades of KC & the Sunshine Band and Prince, “Do It Well” is a fun, unpretentious song, and impeccably assembled track. Clearly a labor of love from this San Francisco dance floor rockin’ posse. Catch ‘em on tour this fall.
